Avigdor Liberman Condemns Incitement Against Chief Rabbi Candidate

Published on: June 18, 2013

Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Avigdor Liberman called on religious leaders to condemn the recent incitement against Chief Rabbi candidate, Rabbi David Stav. Yisrael Beytenu have openly supported Rabbi Stav for the position of Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi.

“It is incumbent on all public figures, especially the spiritual leaders of all the religious camps, to clearly condemn the barbs directed at Rabbi David Stav last night,” MK Liberman said. “We expect spiritual leaders, regardless of their views, to condemn, and certainly not support, damage done to other religious leaders. It is a shame that as part of a political candidacy, and certainly the role of the chief rabbi, that there is someone leading the public into a dark place.”

“There are 70 faces to the Torah and none of them are connected to violence or incitement of one rabbi against another.”
