Minister Aharonovitch: We can be Proud of Our Police Force

Published on: September 12, 2012

Despite the budget cuts, Minister of Internal Security Yitzhak Aharonvitch could point to many achievements by the Police Force.  He presented his review of his ministry’s activities at a Cabinet meeting  earlier this month.

Part of the budget cuts meant that there are fewer police officers and  therefore 60 fewer  police cars patrolling Israel’s roads and neighborhoods.

The Commissioner of the Police Force presented the data for the last 12 months.  Effective strategizing and implementation has led to a decrease in violent crime, crime against property, as well as a decrease in road accidents.

The Prime Minister praised the work of the Ministry of Internal Security, “We have a very good police force that fights crime effectively.

After the meeting, Minister Aharonovitch said, “With limited resources we have done a lot. Our citizens’ personal security is very important.  Addressing the challenges of violence, racism, public order, tensions on the Temple Mount is all done by the same body:  Israel’s excellent Police Force.  I thank the commissioner and his staff.”
