Minister Misezhnikov: More Hotels for Record Tourist Numbers

Published on: August 9, 2012

296,000 visitors came to Israel in July 2012, according to Central Bureau of Statistics published today. This is an all time high for July and an 8% increase over last July. Tourists spend an average of $1320 each during their stay.

The majority of tourists to Israel are from the United States.  Russia is the second largest source of tourists to Israel, followed by England.

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov said: “In light of the constant increase in demand there is an urgent need for additional hotels, which will increase competition in the industry and will reduce the prices of accommodation for both tourists and Israelis.”
