Minister of Immigrant Absorption Greets 320 New Immigrants

Published on: July 24, 2012

Sofa Landver, Minister of Immigrant Absorption met 320 new olim (immigrants to Israel) at Ben Gurion Airport yesterday.  The Minister congratulated the group and pledged the support of her ministry.

Below is a translation of Minister Landver’s address:

Dear Olim

I am honored to welcome you!

You have made  a courageous decision.  You clearly have tremendous motivation to live out your dreams.

I too was a new immigrant once. I stood where you now stand.

For 64 years the state of Israel has been welcoming new olim.  You bring so much to Israel and this is your home.

Since becoming the Minister of Immigrant Absorption, I have worked tirelessly to make you’re aliyah (immigration) as smooth as possible.

Using my own experience as a new immigrant, I know what difficulties you face and what you might need along the way.

We’ve simplified the adiminstrative processes.  Your most important document – your ID card is given you at the airport.  That’s a great convenience. We now offer more assistance and guidance for dealing with welfare, school, and employment.

You’ve done something monumental.  Israel is a wonderful country and the only Jewish state in the world.  Thank you for joining us. We are here to help you in every way we can.

Much success and joy in your aliyah!

Blessed are those who come! Welcome!
