Misezhnikov Welcomes Krimsky child flood victims to Israel
Published on: September 4, 2012Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov met in Jerusalem with children from the southern Russia city of Krimsky. About 50 children were invited to visit Israel as guests of the Zionist Jewish Congress of Russia as a humanitarian gesture following intense floods struck their region last summer, killing over 150 people and leaving thousands homeless.
The children’s visit to Israel includes stops in Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Haifa, Netanya and Rishon Lezion.
Minister Misezhnikov welcomed the children, spoke to them about Israel and answered their questions.
Reflecting on this very special delegation, Minister Misezhnikov said: “Children are the main victims and the most vulnerable ones in such a horrific natural disaster. The gift of a trip to Israel is intended to restore their joy of life. Inviting these children to Israel strengthens the bond between the people of Israel and Russia and serves as the perfect complement to Israeli-Russian relations on the political level.”
