New York Jury’s Ruling Against the PA a ‘Moral Victory’, FM Liberman Says

Published on: February 24, 2015

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman hailed as a “moral victory” Monday’s US jury’s order that Palestinian authorities pay $218 million in damages to American victims of terrorist attacks in Israel.

The jury in New York ruled that Palestinian authorities pay the damages to American victims of seven separate attacks in Israel between 2002 and 2004. It found the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization liable on 25 separate charges and awarded the damages after one day of deliberations.

Legal rights group Shurat Hadin (Israel Law Center) helped represent the 11 families who charged the PA and PLO of inciting, supporting, planning the attacks that killed 33 people and injured more than 390.

“This decision constitutes above all a moral victory for the State of Israel and for the victims of terrorism,” FM Liberman said of the ruling.

It “confirms the opinion of those who know what happened in the early 2000’s but which many in the world refused to recognize because of hypocrisy, known vested interests or anti-Semitism,” he said.

“Terrorism is an integral part of the very structure of the Palestinian Authority,” FM Liberman charged.
