Yisrael Beytenu Ministers Tour Israel’s Northern Border
Published on: August 7, 2012Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Avigdor Liberman, Energy and Water Minister Uzi Landau, Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov and Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch today visited settlements along the northern border. The Yisrael Beytenu ministers were accompanied by head of the “Ma’ale Yosef” regional council, Avi Krampa, and other council members.
Ministers visited towns including Manot, Zra-it and Shtula and received an overview of the area and communities near the border with Lebanon. Uzi Landau, Stas Misezhnikov, and Yitzhak Aharonovitch held discussions with the Council on matters relevant to their respective ministries.
Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said, “I congratulate the security forces for successfully thwarting the attack on the border with Egypt. Such events remind me that Israel is an island of democracy, stability and prosperity surrounded by an ocean of terrorism, human rights abuses and instability. In parallel to the attack in Sinai and the attempt to infultrate Israel, mortar rounds were fired from Gaza into Israel and southern communities in Syria saw the killing of dozens of civilians. These issues of course sit alongside the Iranian nuclear issue and worldwide terrorism. I believe that these days, the true existential challenge to Israel is still security.”
